Migrate from Google Docs to Equilibrition with Markdown then CSV

Google Docs is useful for writing, but teams quickly end up with documents scattered across Drive. Migration should turn documents into usable notes without promising to recreate comments or history.

Starting format

Markdown or Takeout converted to CSV

CSV

CSV import available today

The reliable path today is to download Docs as Markdown, or prepare a Drive archive through Google Takeout, convert documents into a notes CSV, then import that CSV into Equilibrition.

Path

The 3 migration steps

1

Export from Google Docs

For a few documents, use File > Download > Markdown (.md). For a large set, select only Drive in Google Takeout and upload the ZIP without changing it.

  • Keep the Drive hierarchy to suggest the source domain or project.
  • Plan for DOCX, HTML, or manual download for documents that are too large.
2

Import the CSV into Equilibrition

CSV import works today. Turn the Markdown files into a notes CSV with titles, content, paths, links, and file references, then import it into Equilibrition.

  • Accessible images are attached as files.
  • Checklists remain lists, with task extraction only as an option.
3

Review the mapping

Open key documents after import, review titles, lists, simple tables, links, and images, then note what stays outside the standard Markdown path.

  • Comments, suggestions, history, and complex layouts are not imported through this path.
  • A read-only Drive connection remains a future option, not a current requirement.

Watchouts

Limits to know before importing

  • Comments, suggestions, and history are not migrated through the standard Markdown path.
  • API export for a Google Workspace file is limited to 10 MB.
  • Complex layouts may require DOCX, HTML, or manual review.

Coming later

A read-only Drive connector may later automate selection and Markdown export; it is not required for today's available CSV import.
