Migrate from Obsidian to Equilibrition with your Markdown vault

Obsidian already keeps notes as local Markdown files. The migration should preserve that readable source, then turn only the useful elements into reviewable Equilibrition objects.

The reliable path today is to zip the Obsidian vault, prepare a notes CSV from the Markdown files, import that CSV into Equilibrition, then attach private files.

The 3 migration steps

Export from Obsidian

Zip the full vault from disk, including note folders and attachments. Keep the `.obsidian` folder in the archive only as provenance: it is not required for the import CSV.

Do not change relative paths before import: they help resolve links and files.
Obsidian caches and settings can be ignored during conversion.

Import the CSV into Equilibrition

CSV import works today. Convert Markdown files into note rows, add frontmatter as metadata, and import the generated CSV into Equilibrition.

Checkboxes become candidate tasks only if you enable the Extract tasks option.
Images and relative files remain private files attached to the relevant notes.

Review the mapping

Review created notes, folders suggested as domains or projects, tags, and internal links before confirming the full migration.

Canvas, Bases, Dataview, and plugin syntax stays in the raw file with a warning.
Not every checkbox should be automatically turned into a task.

Watchouts

Limits to know before importing

`.obsidian` settings and caches are not imported as business data.
Canvas, Bases, Dataview, and plugin syntax may remain raw text.
Checkboxes may be examples or archives, so task conversion stays optional.

Coming later

A more automated Obsidian adapter may later specialize the Markdown engine; today's available import remains the guided, reviewable CSV path.
