Migrate from Todoist to Equilibrition with a clean CSV backup

Todoist is excellent for clarifying tasks, but project context and notes often live elsewhere. The migration should preserve actionable work without pretending every historical item is available in every export path.

The recommended path is the Todoist backup: it provides a ZIP with one CSV per project, which can be imported into Equilibrition today.

Export from Todoist

From Todoist web or desktop, open Settings, then Backups, create or download a backup, and keep the ZIP containing one CSV per project.

A project-by-project CSV export also works if you want to migrate gradually.
For completed history, the Google Sheets export can complement the backup, with deduplication afterwards.

Import the CSV into Equilibrition

Import the CSV files into Equilibrition: each file becomes a project, sections stay as source groups, and tasks keep hierarchy, descriptions, dates, priorities, and labels.

Comments can become history notes linked to the task.
Attachment links are preserved as resources if download access is not available.

Review the mapping

Review active projects, dates, priorities, and recurring tasks. Flag ambiguous recurrence rules instead of silently changing them.

Backups do not include completed tasks or archived projects.
A second history file should be reconciled to avoid duplicates.

Watchouts

Limits to know before importing

Completed tasks and archived projects are not in the standard backup.
The Google Sheets export that helps with history notably loses labels, deadlines, comments, attachments, and reminders.
Recurring tasks without a clear start date should remain visible as source values when ambiguous.

Coming later

A more automated connection may improve retrieval later, but the CSV backup is enough to migrate active projects today.
